Richard Maddocks could not have explained better the work of a true learning and development professional.
We do the work we do because it feels right. For a true learning and development professional, work is a must, it’s not a burden. There is pleasure in it. We serve others, we help people. There is real joy in doing so. Labeling it’s hard, and in most cases, unnecessary.
What you need to understand is this:
Working with a learning and development professional it’s an investment. It does costs money, but brings you more than money in return. It should bring you more, a lot more… If the work is done right. It may sound subjective at first, but then you get results. Results speak for themselves and it is stuff that may change your life for good. It should change your life for good.
Ultimately, we’d like the people we work with to ask themselves the following question:
How do I live up to my full potential?
And once there is a glimpse of clarity, we’d like them to take action.
