Do you believe in Unicorns?
Did you chase any unicorn (s) in 2014? If so, do you plan on doing it again in 2015? I certainly hope not.
“Unicorn? What do you mean?”
Unicorns are illusions. It may be a wish or a dream. Something we want to attain badly but make no real effort to do so. And when I say “real effort”, I mean committing full-heartedly to attain it.
So, have you been chasing Unicorns?
If there is something you truly want, but you are yet to commit time, energy and/or resources to get/be/do it, you are, indeed, an Unicorn Chaser (UC). Not to worry, you are not alone. Most of us chase Unicorns from time to time. I must confess I had the pleasure (sarcasm) of participating in an Unicorn Chase in 2014. In fact, I also did so in 2013. Crazy stuff…
Don’t get me wrong, I am not judging. My goal with this is simply to ask you, as I have asked myself, to seriously consider whether you want to be chasing Unicorns in 2015. Do you?
You may argue that we got to have dreams, right? Yes, I agree. It’s good to dream and to be hopeful. But what is a dream worth without action? Dreaming without changing what we do it’s kind of insane!
You’ve heard it before:
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. ~ unknown
I get it. I get it. It does get tough at times. Bring fairly tale into our lives may just be what we need to do in order to cope with stress, frustration and fear. However, in the long run, we need smarter strategies.
In my modest opinion, nothing beats getting real.
I know I don’t want to chase Unicorns ever again and if you wanted to stop it too, something has got to change, right? And if you don’t mind me asking, what do you think needs changing?
Is it your attitude towards life? Your beliefs? Habits? Which ones? Do you want to be less fearful in 2015? Trust your intuition more? What else?
Ask yourself:
- what is not working?
- what do I find myself bitching about to friends and family?
- what really bothers me?
- what keeps me awake at night?
- what is sitting in my head that is a negative in my life? What is it?
You know it. If it hasn’t changed yet, chances are it won’t change in 2015. Or ever!
Let’s get real. Let’s leave the airy-fairy behind, back in 2014.
My advice? Take serious action towards what you really, really want. And you must do it before it too late. February is too late. Actually, the end of the week is too late. Even worse, the end of the day is… In fact, do it now! Start by defining what needs changing and take one critical step, only one, towards begging a new chapter of your life.
I could wish you happiness, wealth and health in 2015, but, instead, my wish for 2015 is for all of us to get real. And, of course, that each and everyone one of us stops chasing Unicorns. Let’s leave them alone. In the land far, far away.
Have a great year ahead and make sure you come back more often!
Ciao,
Eduardo
