Learned late in life the value of Gratitude. Truly a powerful and transformative emotional state.
However, it seems to me that Gratitude has become a bit of a buzzword and it’s getting mixed up with Complacency.
Be grateful for things you truly are grateful for. Please, don’t be an ‘everything is great’ kind of person. All it does it highlights your desperate need for attention and/or your lack of personality.
NOT EVERYTHING IS GREAT. To be frank, most day-to-day tasks suck!
It’s easier to say I am so grateful for things you are not, really, and squashing pain and frustration instead of understanding not-so-great emotions and learning to deal with them.
What sucks even more, is being scared of admitting you are pissed with the current state of things. Why? Because it makes others feel uncomfortable around you. Or because you don’t want to feel vulnerable.
Result? Sadness. Disconnection. Isolation. Depression..
Let’s be real, people. Say as it is. Stop sugar-coating.
If you are, truly, this enlightened soul you broadcast. The modern Buddha, so be it.
I know I am not.
